Sojourner’s Well

The Art of Wellness and the Wisdom of Herbs

Guide: Jonah Ruh Roberts

Sojourner’s Well – A nourishing place for travelers to stay a while and learn the spiritual and physical arts of wellness and herbal medicine. This sojourn at the hearth in the medicinal herb gardens of Unity Mountain will fill your medicine bag with knowledge, resources and herbal allies to carry on your life journey.

This class is about deepening into a living relationship with plants. It is about slowing down, deeply listening and allowing the plant wisdoms to teach us how to walk and live in balance as an earth keeper.

This way of plant medicine is not simply learning which herbs do what and adding them into your life to continue on as usual. This way is to accept the plants as your teachers and remember what it means to be ‘green wise’ – to live in tune with Earth and the earth of your body, the water and the water of your body, the air and the air of your body and Fire and the fire of your body..

In some ways this is a course in decolonization in which we see, respect and engage with plants with reciprocity- attuning to them as sentient beings and coming into a relationship of mutual benefit. It is becoming available to the wisdom of plants rather than seeing them as subjects we ‘use’ for solely our own benefit. Plants are sovereign beings and entering a relationship with them as equals, as teachers and as friends, helps us return to our place of gentle grace as members of the web of life.

To touch earth and sky, to feel the rain and witness the alchemy of fire is a remembrance of true living.

To take in plant wisdom re-wilds our intelligence and our capacity for listening beyond human words.

Herbal medicine- the sacred medicinal allies, held so dear through the ages- is a bridge to reintegrate ourselves with the wild.

The Arc of our Learning

In each gathering we look through the lens of a particular organ system and work with key medicinals growing in the garden through plant spirit journeys.

Our sojourn begins in spring- the time of growth and expansion of liver energy and we learn to clear space so that we can grow freely and manifest the directives of the heart.

We will look at the waterways and keeping the streams clear and flowing with green minerals and vibrant free flowing emotions.

We will enter the palace of the heart – the domain of our sovereign- our soul seat and attend to supporting clarity of vision and clear space in this highly refined and magical temple we call home – the spheres of body, mind and soul.

We will look deeply at Yin and learn how to nourish our deep well of resource so that we can walk centered and not deplete. And we will see how the nervous system, our sovereignty, and our adrenal reserves all interplay so that we can learn how to align our life to become strong resilient sovereigns of our own domains.

We will look at our defenses- our outer and inner sentinels maintaining our integrity – our immune system.

And finally we will turn our attention to keeping our central alchemical furnace burning well, the digestive system, and attune to its care.

This is a journey of coming to deeply know our temple and how to care for it so that we may flourish and our soul may do her sacred work with deep resource and reverence.

“I felt deep healing from the circle this weekend. I feel I really purged lifetimes of debris in the ceremony. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

“Space, space, space, holding space. For people, for the unknown, for possibilities. Your herbs are really helping me with this and you set it all in motion with the healing you gave me. Not only did it help me integrate all the energy I was experiencing but it has shifted something about how I process new challenges since. Your own heart and your own connection to source are so clear it feels like you bring me right there, too. Thank you. You are both a healer and a teacher of possibilities. “

– Christopher M.

“Jo, I want you to know that your touch, presence and demeanor in the healing space are life changing. No expectations going with the flow creates a depth, an opening, an opportunity that is found in very few practitioners. The Divine was pulsating through me yesterday. It is bliss when that is present. Thank you!”

– Jane K.

“I am already feeling the shift. My throat chakra is open and my home life feels harmonious for the first time in ages. I woke up to two beautiful messages from women I held in my heart last night. The healing has begun!! Forever grateful!!”

– Jessica B.

“The herbs I have bought from you are having wonderful results! So far, I am thrilled with two really good night’s sleep since I saw you and a fine day of work yesterday. I love the liver support tea. I have used many other forms of liver support over the years, none have had the effect that your tea has had with me. I love them all….and I am really curious about what the difference is between your herbal support and the others.”

– Tafi B.

“I reached out to Jonah for help managing my newly realized empathic and intuitive skills as I found myself getting easily overwhelmed with others’ emotions or caught up sorting through too much information. Her ability to point out some hidden patterns I was not aware of was was most impactful to me. Jonah has a peaceful presence, deeply grounded experience, and a gift of seeing into my soul. I’m thrilled that I have felt steady, clear and as if I have a dial that allows the right messages to come through as I desire. I notice this as I have spent the last 2 weeks visiting 4 families on our road trip vacation. This would normally have me frazzled and spread thin. Instead I feel full, connected to myself and peaceful. Thank you Jonah!”
